You may occasionally need to forward 1 or many of your office phone number(s) to an external number such as a mobile, landline or a 3rd party answer phone service.
This guides explains how to set up call forwarding in 2 steps, by firstly adding the external number into the system, and secondly applying the setting without writing over permanent routing rules.
1. Click on Configuration (at the top left of the Dashboard), then click on Custom Destinations. Once you are on the Custom Destinations page click on New Custom Destination (at the top right of the page).
2. Under the Type option, scoll down and select Forward Call to, which will open up more options.
You can then enter details in the Name, Phone number, and Dial timeout sections, the other options can be ignored;
Name: Any relevant text to identify the rule later on.
Phone number: Enter the phone number you wish to forward to, do not add any spaces in this field.
Dial timeout: Define how long this number should be tried for.
All other settings can be ignored/left as is.
Press Save to create the rule.
3. Now the forwarding rule has been created, we can apply the setting to the relevant phone number, on the left navigation bar click on Configuration, then Phone Numbers.
4. Click on the phone number you wish to add the forwarding rule to.
Under the Voice section, select the Unconditional Forward check box, then select the forwarding rule you created from the drop down menu.
By entering the rule in the Unconditional Forward section, you can override your regular routing (listed in the Destination section), without needing to delete/adjust this regular rule.
Now press Save at the bottom and the forwarding will now be active.
To restore your previous routing, simply go back into the number, uncheck the Unconditional Forward check box, and press Save, which will revert settings back to normal.
